This time it was especially important to take a weekend get away because Ryan has been really feeling the crunch at work. So much so that he developed strep like symptoms (think ouchy tonsils with sores) which the Dr determined was NOT strep but rather stressed induced. One trip to Chicago (Ryan getting to see Greg) and VOILA! no more stress induced illness.
Since we have been to Chicago so many times the point isn't to sightsee but to spend time with our friends. Regardless of that, Greg always has a great agenda for us! This trip was a gastronomical experience. Here's the rundown:
Hot Doug's (1 hr wait) for Buffalo Chipotle dog with smoked Gouda, Beef and pork dog with foie gras and garlic aioli, Thai dog with peanut sauce and dried coconut shavings and a 2 spicy, more normal dogs for my meat and potatoes husband :) Topped off with a serving of Duck Fat fries and regular fries (there is no difference).
Kumas (1 hr wait) for the biggest burgers I have ever seen! We ordered mac and cheese with onion and proscuitto for an appetizer. The winner of the burgers was by far mine. A burger made with red wine barbeque sauce, aged cheddar, bacon and topped with an onion ring. It may...just may...compete with our beloved Nook and Blue Door!
Donald and Wade (Ryan) are the true definition of best friends. I mean, they have nicknames for each other, hold hands and even track each other's locations via Google Latitude. Ryan and Greg are some what similar to Greggy and Terry, if any of you know of that "special" relationship :) Here is a photo of Greg and Ryan with a great view of Lake Michigan behind them. (ok one of Ryan and I too)
These are in front of the Shedd Aquarium. I guess we did do some touristy things!
Awww the boys are so cute at our Mexican dinner!!!
Kelsey made it out to say hello between her shifts :)
